I took a walk before dinner two evenings ago. I've got to go out before dinner now that dusk is coming on so early. The light was already fading by the time I got to an old field near my house, but there was still enough light to photograph a beautiful poison ivy vine scrambling up a white pine trunk.
In the opposite direction, the setting sun illuminated a meadow of goldenrod and big bluestem growing hard by a woodlot showing some autumn hues.

Yup, in spite of being laced with "scratching juice," as I once heard an oldtimer put it, you have to give poison ivy its due for being really pretty come fall.
Dusk is coming earlier and earlier, for sure…
I was admiring some poison ivy just this evening, it's one of the most colorful plants in the yard. Sometimes I have to resist the urge to reach out and touch a leaf.
Grizz and Jain,
With the fairly muted tree leaves so far this fall, you gotta' get your color where you can find it. Like almost everyone, I have a love/hate relationship with poison ivy, but mostly I just live and let live. Besides, it's good for the birds.
HI SCOTT-
I see you over at 'Riverdaze' and thought I would come by and say "hi" :-) I had no idea poison ivy could be so pretty to look at. Talk about deceiving, huh? Have a beautiful weekend. Like I said over at Grizz's place, it is pasta bake day - me and my daughter are making a "reuben pasta casserole", new recipe Fingers crossed. C'mom over for a plateful later,
Love, Gail'
peace.....

How'd the Reuben pasta casserole turn out? It sounds delicious. I love Reuben sandwiches. Thanks for stopping by; I look forward to hearing from you once in a while.
