Guest Images - Late Summer

Keith Collins, a friend of mine, spent a few hours in "my" natural area on Wednesday morning, August 8, gathering images of the preserve in late summer.  I'm sharing four of his better images since I haven't had a chance to hit the trails myself in a few days.  It was very humid on Wednesday morning, which I believe helped Keith to capture the mood in the meadow in the image above.
Little Bluestem (Schizachyrium scoparium) in flower
Unfurling (Queen Anne's-lace, Daucus carota)

I really like the one of the unfurling queen anne's lace for some reason. Don't forget the Perseid meteor shower on Sunday night/monday morning. I hope the storms will be over by then!

John: I don't understand your comment: "Ohhh errrr!" Do you mean that it's a shame that you couldn't spend a few hours enjoying the outdoors, too? Sorry that I'm so thick.

Thanks for the reminder about the Perseids, Carolyn. I think that Sunday's supposed to be pretty nice, so there's a chance I might be able to see the meteors.
