Three...and Counting

Sea oats in snow
The snowstorm that dumped on the East Coast yesterday left us with eight inches of light, fluffy snow.  This storm set a new record: the first winter since records have been kept (beginning in 1874) that the area has suffered through three storms delivering six inches of snow or more before February.   In addition, we're just two inches below the total average annual snowfall for the region.

And, except for a brief period on Saturday afternoon, the temperature is forecast to remain below freezing for the next five days.  It just gets better and better.

I know I've had enough.

It's a lovely photo, Scott, if that's any consolation. It's a crazy winter; we've had record amounts of rain but a really mild winter. If you want some mud instead of snow.....no, you'll have plenty when that lot thaws.

John: I agree; I'll take the snow over mud. I knew that Great Britain was being deluged, but I didn't realize that it's been mild, too.

I remember those snowstorms all too well, Scott, and I can't say I'm sorry we're living in the desert Southwest now.

We've had some really cold weather, with lows in the single digits and fairly often in the teens. That's cold for here. But aside from a few flakes, we haven't had any snow.

Packrat: I don't blame you right now. I'll check in again with you at the end of July, though. :)

Mark: Fortunately, the snow was extraordinarily light and fluffy. There's actually less than 8" inches on the ground now; it's either sublimating or it's condensing, but whatever is happening, the depth is definitely lower--thank goodness!

The weather this winter is crazy everywhere. You're being deluged and we are in an historical drought. Sure would be nice if there was some balance.
